To start, can you tell me a little bit about your role at MRMK and what are you responsible for?
NL: I am responsible for the finance team and the management of the company’s financial resources.
Why did you decide to get into your current job role?
NL: The company is entering an exciting period of growth but still wants to maintain its ethos of quality and customer service. That is a challenging thing to do, so I am excited to be a part of that journey.
How did you come to know about MRMK?
NL: Even though I have worked in the food packaging industry I have to admit I never gave such an important component as the knives a second thought! A recruiter contacted me and said he had a perfect match for me and that is how it has turned out.
Why did you decide to join MRMK?
NL: The company has grown around supplying quality products and meeting the customers’ needs. That is what I have been involved in for a number of years with other companies and it is what gets me excited about coming to work.
What’s the thing that you most enjoy about your role at MRMK?
NL: There is a great group of people in the factory and offices. It’s hard work but with a backdrop of humour and fun.
What’s been your favourite project to work on at MRMK?
NL: Supporting the Apprentice recruitment process. MRMK already had an apprentice, but we have now opened the scheme to more areas of the business. The apprentices are our talent pipeline and bode well for the future of the company
What makes MRMK’s approach different to other machine knife manufacturers?
NL: It’s our focus on Quality and Customer Service. These are difficult things to consistently achieve but it has been the company culture since its incorporation.
Before working at MRMK what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had
NL: When I was at school one of my summer jobs was working on a pig farm – the money was good but the smell!
What’s a fun fact about you that not many people know?
NL: My favourite film is Jungle Book – the original – I just have to sing along
