Ready to meet Lauren? Let’s go ⬇️

Editor’s note: The following has been edited for clarity.

To start, can you tell me a little bit about your role at MRMK and what are you responsible for?

LM: I am responsible for supporting our Finance Director and accounting activities across the wider business with the all-around daily processing of financial transactions and assisting with the month-end accounts. I’m also on hand on hand to answer any queries raised by the internal team here at MRMK and external customers or providers. MRMK is constantly evolving, so I have the opportunity to support our day-to-day operations in many different ways.

Why did you decide to get into your current job role?

LM: I actually helped my partner with some of his bookkeeping when he was self-employed. I really enjoyed doing it and realised that I had a head for numbers and from there I decided to study the AAT accounting qualification and get into accounts professionally

How did you come to know about MRMK?

LM: I was introduced by a colleague I had worked with in the past. It seemed like it was an exciting time to join the business and I wanted a faster pace and more opportunities for learning, growth and development. The people across the business seemed like a great bunch of people to work with and learn from.

Why did you decide to join MRMK?

LM: Having been made redundant I was on the lookout for a new challenge within a similar type of industry. MRMK have huge global growth ambitions and I felt that I would be able to dive in and make an impact immediately – not many businesses can provide such a rewarding opportunity.

What’s the thing that you most enjoy about your role at MRMK?

LM: It’s hard to pinpoint, but I mainly like the variety of the role,  along with working within a friendly team.  I think the most satisfying part of life at MRMK is that I can do things that help the company run efficiently and make life easier for our team and customers.

What’s been your favourite project to work on at MRMK?

LM: As the business scales, you need robust processes. An ongoing project I have on at the moment involves working closely with the finance director to streamline our processes and systems within the accounts team to make things run as efficiently as possible.

What makes MRMK’s approach different to other machine knife manufacturers?

LM: The thing that makes MRMK different is that our team has the customer’s experience at its core. This runs right through the business from production to accounts.

Before working at MRMK what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had

LM: Before I got into accounts work, I was a pre-school practitioner looking after the social and educational development of babies and young children. That was a long time ago though!!

What’s a fun fact about you that not many people know?

LM: I love a good Zombie film/series

What three words describe MRMK?

 LM: Friendly, Quality, Professional

What makes MRMK a great company to work for?

LM: The friendly and supportive team will help you to develop a broad skill set and take on more responsibility, which is key to personal development and growth.

What do you think creates a great customer experience?

LM: Striving to provide the best service and quality products and working closely with customers to solve their problems.

What advice do you have for prospective MRMK candidates?

LM: I would tell them that there is nothing quite like MRMK, It’s an exciting fast-paced and constantly evolving company. So if you’re serious about taking your growth and development into your own hands and finding opportunities to learn around every corner, my advice is to don’t overthink it and go after it
